"Cooly Rocks On" Goes Global

The organisers of Cooly Rocks On are taking the iconic festival global.

The rock-and-roll nostalgia festival is being heavily promoted in New Zealand, South East Asia and Calfornia in a bid to bring a global audience to the shores of Tweed Heads and Coolangatta.

Cooly Rocks On operations manager Bob Newman said debuting the festival on the Today Show was a step towards international coverage.

"What better way to showcase Cooly Rocks On than to be featured on National Television. We wanted to let Australia know that Gold Coast-Tweed Heads will be the place to be next June." Mr Newman said.

Rock-solid: Cooly Rocks On is being promoted to an overseas market!

"We have spoken to Gold Coast Tourism about promoting the festival not just in Australia but also to capture the overseas market as well. We hope to attract people from all over Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and California.

"June on the Gold Coast is a pretty nice time to come and let your hair down, and we aim to give people a good time when they get here."

Hanson Media Group owner Ian Hanson has been meeting with Gold Coast Tourism to promote the festival overseas.

"All the feedback has been very positive," Mr Hanson said.

The Today Show kicked off a week-long visit to the Gold Coast yesterday with a live broadcast from Coolangatta.

The televised event showcased Cooly Rocks On as Australia's hottest newrock and roll nostalgia festival.

The broadast took place in Queen Elizabeth Park.

Cooly Rocks On Operations Manager,Bob Manager was excited to see the nostalgia festival be part of the popular Channel Nice show.

"It's just great to be part of it, to let eeryone in Australia know that Coolangatta will be rocing come next June."Mr Newman said.

"We're proud to have Cooly Rocks On as a small part of the Today Show and we hope that we can bring back some memories of the way life use to be on the Gold Coast, the honeymoon destination of so many couples in the '50's and 60's."

"There will be rock and roll and rockabilly bands and singers who will transform the streets of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads into a nostalgia flashbackto the days when rock and roll ruled."

Cooly Rocs On is expected to attract more than 50,000 people to the Gold Coast - Tweed Heads region from June 3rd to 13th next year for a week-long celebration.

Leading Queensland rock and roll band, Shindig, featuring Peter Brown on guitar and vocals, David Lee-Jay on drums and vocals and Rex Harris on base and vocals, performed during the broadcast.

The band was joined by dancers from the Gold Coast Rockers, Lynne and Dale Tomkins and Heather and Andy Brown.

The Today Show will continue to broadcast from Queen Elizabeth Park for the remainder of the week. The Today Show will broadcast from Coolangatta until Friday.
